  1. This list is not only shocking in length but also in detail. It saddens me to see a mother and a daughter on this list together. When we think about lynching we tend to only think about it in the scope of men. I think the discussion of lynching among woman at this time is left undiscussed in class rooms because it is much easier for them to teach us about these men who might or might not have committed a crime or something so simple as to being a African American male rather than teaching us what really happened across the board. The part that saddens me the most about this is the alleged allegations--four in particular "Stealing a bible," "by mistake" "success" and "teaching a lesson"

  2. Thank you for that thoughtful response.

It is shameful that we discuss violence in terms of gender and ignore that people that were both women and black were subject to extreme violence in American culture.

  3. It was very sickening and sadden me to read about these cases i even did my own research on some of the people on the list above. It was sad people got lynched because of the inequalities in society they just wanted the equal opportunities they seen other have or believed they should have. Before reading this list I only thought about men being lynched i never thought about women and their children being lynched. After looking at this chart i want to learn more about these cases and how often they occurred.

  4. Also I decided to look at the website where you got this information and it brought tears to my eyes to see the people who were hanging from the trees,
